Tasting- Rickshaw Pinot Noir

Tasting- Rickshaw Pinot Noir

  • Variety of Grapes- Pinot Noir
  • Country of Origin- United States
  • Region of Origin- California
  • Vintage year- 2021
  • Price- $8.99

Winery Review- We source this Rickshaw Pinot from a variety of coastal cool-climate vineyards with a large percentage coming from the Sonoma Coast. The wine is fermented in small open-top vessels aged in stainless steel and high-end French oak barrels. As always, pure Pinot flavor and exquisite balance are the goals of this wine. Tasting Notes- During the season of 2021, California overall received almost no rain. the summer had mild temperatures, allowing fruit to hang a bit longer than usual. all of the vineyards and fruit load were managed according to how much water was available for that specific vineyard. There were a few hot spells early in the fall which quickened ripening and accelerated harvest season. The 2021 Rickshaw Pinot Noir is endlessly energetic. Bright red-fruit aromas of raspberries, strawberries, and Rainier cherries are complimented with notes of vanilla, cedar, and nutmeg. Toasted oak, light fruit, and spice flavors are persistent on the palate and met with elegant, rich medium-textured tannins and a long, silky finish.

Wine Folly- The world's most popular light-bodied red is loved for its red fruit and spice flavors that is accentuated by a long, smooth, soft-tannin finish. A versatile red wine for food pairing given the higher acidity and lower tannin. Pinot Noir tastes like it was meant for duck, chicken, pork, and mushrooms. (150)

My Review- I thoroughly enjoy this wine, gives a nice sweet fruity smell of berries on the first smell. After chewing it and getting the flavors throughout my mouth the berries are very prominent and give a sweet acidic flavor. The wine is semi-dry to my taste, even though I didn't pair this with anything i would suggest pairing it with some herb chicken that could match the lovely flavor.

Tasting- Borgo Conventi Sauvignon

Borgo Conventi Sauvignon

  • Variety of Grapes-  Sauvignon Blanc
  • Country of Origin- Italy
  • Region of Origin- Friuli-Venezia Giulia
  • Vintage Year- 2017
  • Price- $19.99
Winery Review- Straw yellow in color, it displays a lively greenish shade. On the nose, it is vibrant and very complex. The aromas of green pepper, tomato leaf, and hard peach perfectly complement the floral scents, the mineral notes of flint, and the slight hints of clary sage. The wine is elegant, and has a good backbone and a long aromatic finish.

Wine Folly- A unique-tasting white wine with strong herbaceous flavors that are derived from compounds called methoxypyrazines. Sauvignon Blanc is a wonderful pairing partner with herb-driven sauces, salty cheeses, light meats, and last but not least, Asian food.

My review- Taste is light and dry very smooth and fruity. The smell is dry but sweet smell and notes of fruit. I didn't pair this with anything but it has a very good taste and is smooth which is very nice.

Tasting- Hazy Mountain White Wine

Hazy Mountain White Wine

  • Variety of Grape- White Grapes
  • Country of Origin- United States
  • Region of Origin- Virginia
  • Vintage year- None listed
  • Price- $26.00
Wine Review- Hazy Mountain White is an amazingly versatile, off-dry blend fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks to highlight its naturally fresh and juicy taste. It has a fully textured mouthfeel with lively acidity and just enough residual sugar (2.5%) to help bring everything together. The sweetness is reminiscent of a ripe green apple, but this fresh and juicy style never weighs down your palate. Exceedingly food-friendly, this white blend is the perfect accompaniment to spicy, salty, and briny foods.

Wine Folly- It is a White Wine Blend, I have no idea how to find this in the book.

My review- Super crisp and lovely crisp smell that is juicy. This in my opinion would pair well with spicy and savory food. Highly recommend very good wine. You can get it from a winery in Virginia so i highly recommend checking them out!

Tasting- Winking Owl Cabernet Sauvignon

 Winking Owl Cabernet Sauvignon

  • Variety of Grapes- Red Grapes
  • Country of Origin- United States
  • Region of Origin- California
  • Vintage year- None listed
  • Price- $3.50

Wine Review- Subtle flavors of blackberry, plum, toasted oak, and a hint of vanilla. Pairs well with pasta, roast beef, and steak.

Wine Folly- The world's most popular wine is a natural cross between cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc that originated in Bordeaux. Wines are concentrated and age-worthy. The rich flavor and high tannin content in cabernet sauvignon make it a perfect partner to rich grilled meats, peppery sauces, and dishes with high flavor.

My review- The smell is fruity and dry which is really nice. The taste gives off notes of berries with a little smokiness and dry.

Tasting- Winking Owl Moscato

Winking Owl- Moscato

  • Variety of Grapes- Muscat Blanc
  • Country of Origin- United States

Winery Review from Aldi- It's the perfect, light and airy white wine with flavors of  ripe citrus, apricot, and peach. made in California, Winking Owl Moscato pairs well with spicy cuisines, light cheeses, and almost any of your favorite desserts.

Wine Folly- An ancient aromatic white variety originally from Greece that's available in all styles from dry to sweet, still to sparkling, and even fortified. Drier styles pair well with salads, sushi, and fresh fruit. Sparkling Moscato d'Asti is excellent with almond cake. Fortified Muscat tastes great with cheese and nuts. (138)

My Review- The smell was light, airy and fruity which was very refreshing. The taste was sweet and light with a hint of peach at the end.
