Tasting Rickshaw Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting- Rickshaw Cabernet Sauvignon

  • Variety of Grapes- Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Country of Origin- United States
  • Region of Origin- California
  • Vintage year- 2021
  • Price- $9.99

Winery Review- Rickshaw Cabernet Sauvignon comes from hand-selected vineyard parcels tended by family farmers across California. A regal, yet friendly expression of this noble grape, which rich flavors of blueberry, vanilla, and cedar that fill your glass with inky deliciousness.

Wine Folly- The world's most popular wine is a natural cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc that originated in Bordeaux. Wine is concentrated and age-worthy. The rich flavor and high tannin content in Cabernet Sauvignon make it a perfect partner for rich grilled meats, peppery sauces, and dishes with high flavor. (88)

My Review- When smelling the wine you can get hints of blueberry and sweetness which is very nice on the nose. Taste is very rich with grape and vanilla which is very nice and could pair really well with grilled chicken with lemon pepper seasoning on it.

Tasting- 1000 Stories Zinfandel

1000 Stories Zinfandel

  • Variety of Grape- Zinfandel
  • Country of Origin- United States
  • Region of Origin- California
  • Vintage Year- 2020
  • Price- $15.99
Wine Review- Our Zinfandel Batch 86 is bursting with red fruit aromas typical of Zinfandel- Strawberry, raspberry, and cherry fill the glass. Batch 86 spent more time aging in Bourbon barrels than most of our Zinfandels and it shows in the profile: sweet components like caramel, toffee, and also some dry herb and spice notes are prominently displayed.

Wine Folly- A fruit-forward yet bold red that's loved for its jammy fruit and smoky, exotic spice notes. Originally from Croatia, Zinfandel is related to Croatia's #1 red, Plavic Mali. Zinfandel is ideal with Turkish, Moroccan, and Arabic cuisine, which brings out the grape's cinnamon-like spices. Try it with Asian Barbecue.

My Review- The first smell bold oak smell due to the aging in the bourbon barrels. Very bold smell of dark fruit like cherries. The taste is dry with the after taste of strawberries and a hint of bourbon taste from the barrels. Even though I didn't pair this with anything, I think it would pair nicely with a steak dinner or any type of red meat.

Tasting- Beringer Pinot Grigio

Beringer Pinot Grigio

  • Variety of Grape- White Grape
  • Country of Origin- United States
  • Region of Origin- Livermore, CA
  • Vintage Year- None Listed
  • Price- $10
Wine Review- Perfect for the hot days and warm nights of summer. Has a refreshing bite of juicy white peach and citrus, finishing with a flinty minerality. Makes for a great pre-dinner sipper or as an accompaniment to fresh salad and grilled chicken.

Wine Folly- Pinot Gris (aka Pinot Grigio) is a pink grape mutation of Pinot Noir that's most famous for its zesty white wines that range in style from dry to just plain sweet. Pinot Gris makes an excellent pairing with white meats, seafood, and food with a fruit element, such as lemons, oranges, peaches, or apricots.

My Review- When first smelling the wine I got fresh pear and peach overall just a big fruity flavor with hint flowery smell. Taste was very citrus with pear almost a sweet taste which surprised me do to the bottle saying it was dry. Overall I could see myself drinking this wine again with a salad to start my meal.

Tasting- Rickshaw Pinot Noir

Tasting- Rickshaw Pinot Noir

  • Variety of Grapes- Pinot Noir
  • Country of Origin- United States
  • Region of Origin- California
  • Vintage year- 2021
  • Price- $8.99

Winery Review- We source this Rickshaw Pinot from a variety of coastal cool-climate vineyards with a large percentage coming from the Sonoma Coast. The wine is fermented in small open-top vessels aged in stainless steel and high-end French oak barrels. As always, pure Pinot flavor and exquisite balance are the goals of this wine. Tasting Notes- During the season of 2021, California overall received almost no rain. the summer had mild temperatures, allowing fruit to hang a bit longer than usual. all of the vineyards and fruit load were managed according to how much water was available for that specific vineyard. There were a few hot spells early in the fall which quickened ripening and accelerated harvest season. The 2021 Rickshaw Pinot Noir is endlessly energetic. Bright red-fruit aromas of raspberries, strawberries, and Rainier cherries are complimented with notes of vanilla, cedar, and nutmeg. Toasted oak, light fruit, and spice flavors are persistent on the palate and met with elegant, rich medium-textured tannins and a long, silky finish.

Wine Folly- The world's most popular light-bodied red is loved for its red fruit and spice flavors that is accentuated by a long, smooth, soft-tannin finish. A versatile red wine for food pairing given the higher acidity and lower tannin. Pinot Noir tastes like it was meant for duck, chicken, pork, and mushrooms. (150)

My Review- I thoroughly enjoy this wine, gives a nice sweet fruity smell of berries on the first smell. After chewing it and getting the flavors throughout my mouth the berries are very prominent and give a sweet acidic flavor. The wine is semi-dry to my taste, even though I didn't pair this with anything i would suggest pairing it with some herb chicken that could match the lovely flavor.

Tasting- Borgo Conventi Sauvignon

Borgo Conventi Sauvignon

  • Variety of Grapes-  Sauvignon Blanc
  • Country of Origin- Italy
  • Region of Origin- Friuli-Venezia Giulia
  • Vintage Year- 2017
  • Price- $19.99
Winery Review- Straw yellow in color, it displays a lively greenish shade. On the nose, it is vibrant and very complex. The aromas of green pepper, tomato leaf, and hard peach perfectly complement the floral scents, the mineral notes of flint, and the slight hints of clary sage. The wine is elegant, and has a good backbone and a long aromatic finish.

Wine Folly- A unique-tasting white wine with strong herbaceous flavors that are derived from compounds called methoxypyrazines. Sauvignon Blanc is a wonderful pairing partner with herb-driven sauces, salty cheeses, light meats, and last but not least, Asian food.

My review- Taste is light and dry very smooth and fruity. The smell is dry but sweet smell and notes of fruit. I didn't pair this with anything but it has a very good taste and is smooth which is very nice.

Tasting- Hazy Mountain White Wine

Hazy Mountain White Wine

  • Variety of Grape- White Grapes
  • Country of Origin- United States
  • Region of Origin- Virginia
  • Vintage year- None listed
  • Price- $26.00
Wine Review- Hazy Mountain White is an amazingly versatile, off-dry blend fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks to highlight its naturally fresh and juicy taste. It has a fully textured mouthfeel with lively acidity and just enough residual sugar (2.5%) to help bring everything together. The sweetness is reminiscent of a ripe green apple, but this fresh and juicy style never weighs down your palate. Exceedingly food-friendly, this white blend is the perfect accompaniment to spicy, salty, and briny foods.

Wine Folly- It is a White Wine Blend, I have no idea how to find this in the book.

My review- Super crisp and lovely crisp smell that is juicy. This in my opinion would pair well with spicy and savory food. Highly recommend very good wine. You can get it from a winery in Virginia so i highly recommend checking them out!

The rich flavor and high tannin content in cabernet sauvignon make it a perfect partner to rich grilled meats, peppery sauces, and dishes with high flavor.

Tasting- Winking Owl Moscato

Winking Owl- Moscato

  • Variety of Grapes- Muscat Blanc

Wine Folly- An ancient aromatic white variety originally from Greece that's available in all styles from dry to sweet, still to sparkling, and even fortified. Drier styles pair well with salads, sushi, and fresh fruit. Sparkling Moscato d'Asti is excellent with almond cake. Fortified Muscat tastes great with cheese and nuts. (138)

Tasting- Santa Julia~ Sustainable Torrontes

Santa Julia- Sustainable Torrontes

  • Variety of grapes-
  • Country of Origin- Argentina
  • Region of Origin- Mendoza
  • Vintage Year- 2023
  • Price- $10
Winery's Review- Torrontes the emblematic white variety in Argentina, had a floral and aromatic profile, with a refreshing and light spicy finish.

Wine Folly- Argentina's very own white is actually a group of 3 varieties that are natural crossing with Muscat of Alexandria. Torrontes Riojano is considered the best. Even though Torrontes can smell sweet, it's usually dry to taste, making it a great match with savory dishes that feature exotic spices, fruit, and aromatic herbs. (177)

My Review- Fruity and fresh smell, on the first sip it was refreshing and got the taste of fresh fruit. I paired the wine with cocktail shrimp and cocktail sauce which was a great pair to the spice of the sauce. It didn't affect the taste to much, it made it more enjoyable to drink.
